LS3-POWERED CHEVROLET CORVETTE

Over the next year, the body was refinished in Mint Green and silver and mounted on an SRIII Motorsports round-tube space frame chassis incorporating four-wheel independent suspension sourced from C4 and C5 Corvettes. A GM Performance 6.2-liter LS3 V8 was also installed along with a 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission and a Dana 44 rear end, a custom stainless-steel dual exhaust system, Flaming River power rack-and-pinion steering, QA1 coilovers, Schott C10 billet aluminum wheels, and electric power-assisted disc brakes utilizing C4 and C5 components. The car’s tan convertible top overs a white leather interior outfitted with Al Knoch custom bucket seats, Vintage Air climate control, power windows, and a RetroSound head unit. The fiberglass body was refinished in mint green with silver coves subsequent to the application of multiple coats of polyester and urethane primers, and it rides on an epoxy-coated round-tube space frame chassis from SRIII Motorsports. Additional work included replacing the glass and weatherstripping, straightening and polishing the stainless trim, and stripping and re-plating the chrome pieces. Exterior details include a tan Haartz Stayfast convertible top, a washboard-style louvered hood, a cowl vent, 1958-only trunk spear trim, quad halogen headlights, fender vents, split bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets.Power rack-and-pinion steering from Flaming River is complemented by independent four-wheel suspension provided by the unequal-length control arms from a C5 Corvette up front and the multi-link setup from a C4 out back with corresponding composite leaf springs at both ends and QA1 adjustable coilovers all around. Shortened C5 Z06 front and custom rear sway bars have likewise been fitted. The wheel hubs and bearings have been replaced, and the aluminum suspension components were finished in two-stage Blade Silver urethane.

Schott C10 Cover-Loc billet aluminum wheels wear whitewall tires. C5 and C4 calipers and rotors were used at the front and rear, respectively, along with an electric booster. An E-Stopp electric parking brake is also installed.
